Harpersford (aka Loudwater)

Located east of Lake Nah-oosa, this rough-and-tumble logging community resides near a cold, fast-flowing river (headed north to Blennerhassett) that runs down out of the high Greypeak Mts.  A permanent one-way portal operates on the river, receiving ships from Blennerhassett (Ebon shipping, in Blennerhassett, manages the river routes for all the communities in and along Hills-n-Dale).  Harpersford is named, not for those who harp, but rather for the Harpist at Moonset, an inn that has stood here since the earliest of local memory.  The inn's name comes from an even earlier time, supposedly when the elves ruled this area and ran through its dense forests.  In those days, according to legend, elven Harpers would meet here on nights of the full moon, to harp and sing.  Their voices, carried by the wind, would float  down the river, through the forest, over the land, giving rise to hundreds of local tales about ghostly maidens and lost loves.  The town is famed among bards and poets, who travel here hoping to capture some inspiration from the spot where the elves once sang their legendary music.

Eade's Hill:  This man-made knoll is capped by an aged watch tower surrounded by multiple wooden buildings.  Originally built centuries ago as part of a collective defense against the evils of the Swagdar Wastelands, it was eventually sacked into virtual nothingness.  Rebuilt several times, its importance diminished over the ages (the Drow of Dambrath have brought about stability in recent times).  Today the tower is little used, though still manned; the occasional noble of some high court stays here as he or she passes through.  It is best known for the spectre of Baron Eade, the original builder of the fort (according to a cleric who communed with the spectre some years ago);  he was killed during an assault, but his ghost can still be seen on some nights, walking the battlements, shouting orders at some unseen workmen while ethereal flames burn in the background.
